Glossed with purplish blue

Common Raven (Corvus corvax), 25 March 2016

I believe this is the female of a pair.  I love the purplish iridescent sheen of her feathers.  (The Birds of North America account describes it as "glossed with purple to purplish blue.")

I am reading book "The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2015" this weekend while we are enjoying the OR coast and I read this story this morning:

I was pleasantly surprised by your post today to go with the theme of my day :).

I have been thinking of y'all all weekend while I search the beach for treasures and stories. Lots of itty bitty by-the-winds on Nye Beach.

Hey, Annaliese! Wish we could walk Nye Beach with you! We hope to get up to Oregon some time this year...to visit y'all, and to pay respect to the Elders (Eric's barnacles). :)
