In the willows

A distant shot, but nice to see an Allen's Hummingbird (Selasphorus sasin) in the willows in the Bodega Dunes today (11 February 2023).  [You can click on the image for a larger version.]

Thank you for this! It's been far too long since I've seen/heard an Allen's hummer. I have loved their flashing iridescence and the sound of their "afterburner" when they were tussling with my resident Anna's, but it's been a long time since any of them stopped by here.

That's a darling! I had never seen this bird, or even heard of its name before. It's wonderful, the many things you show us.

Nice photo. Thanks for sharing.
You will want to correct the date inside the parenthesis.

Hi, Bob!

Whoops! Not sure how I ended up typing the wrong date, but I appreciate your sharp eyes! I've corrected it.

Hi, Alice and Gretchen!

Thanks so much!

I, too, am intrigued by the sounds of Allen's Hummingbirds, especially during their pendulum display. I might try to record it!
