Holding on

A young Sierran Treefrog (Pseudacris sierra) holding on to a bur-reed leaf in Bodega Bay on 16 August 2017.

P.S.  You might know this species as a Pacific Treefrog or Pacific Chorus Frog (Pseudacris regilla), but there have been some taxonomic changes during the last few years.

  1. I remember being taught in Biology 101 that we use Latin names because Latin is a dead language, not prone to changes. Hah! No one told us that the Latin names of almost every plant and animal we were forced to memorize was going to change in our own lifetimes. I'll always love you, little Hyla regilla! :)
