Basking in the October sun

 

The colors in the wings of this Common Buckeye (Junonia coenia) seem like a good match for fall.  Photographed on 27 October 2018.

    We saw one of these when we were out there on Friday - yay! We used to have them all the time in our garden in Sebastopol but haven't seen any in years; they've disappeared from here along with the West Coast Ladies, darn it.
