This morning we woke up to a local air temperature of ~13°F (-10.5°C) in Massachusetts. When we stepped outside, Eric noticed these beautiful frost crystals on the windshield of the car.
Looking more closely, the patterns and details were spectacular. Want to see?
Happy Winter Solstice!
Happy Birthday, Jackie! :) E.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these images. We don't get to see snowflakes very often out here in west Sonoma County.
ReplyDeleteHappy winter to all of us!
Those are so beautiful. I've read of the elaborate steps some people have taken to capture individual, detailed snowflake images similar to that but it sounds like you just found these on your windshield and then snapped some pictures. Ha, ha. Maybe it wasn't THAT easy, but whatever, they're great. Still don't think I'll move to MA, though.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Happy Solstice to you all also.
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, we just got lucky. Overnight conditions must have been just right to produce beautiful frost on the windshield...Eric took the time to look more closely (instead of just scraping off the frost)...and we had a camera with a "microscope" setting. If I still lived in Massachusetts, it would be hard not to come in from searching for amazing frost patterns during the winter.
