Pisaster palette

I've been busy with field surveys recently, so here's a quick photo from the rocky intertidal zone:

Ochre Sea Stars (Pisaster ochraceus) — in three color forms — and Giant Green Anemones (Anthopleura xanthogrammica)

  2. I'm so glad to see the sea stars come back. My wife and I walked at low tide from Doran to Short Tail Gulch and we saw a great many sea stars clustered among the rocks.

  3. Hi, Alice and Dan,

Yes! Nice to see the healthy sea stars! We've been monitoring some local sites since 2013. It's been a long road back from declines due to wasting disease, but we're hopeful about their recovery.
