Green swirls

A beautiful phoronid, Phoronopsis harmeri, in Bodega Harbor on 5 February 2022.  For a little more info about phoronids, check out the post called "Ebb and flow" on 26 July 2017.

  2. Hi, Alice!

Phoronids are unusual -- and they're in their own phylum, which means they really are their "own thing," with a unique body plan within the animal world. There aren't many species of phoronids in the world, so we're lucky to have some in our backyard!
