It's been a while since I've posted a mystery close-up photo, so here you go! Can you tell what type of organism this is?

Maybe an isopod?

ReplyDeleteI've also received several guesses that it's a chiton, but it's not a chiton.
This is a tough one, but here are a couple of hints:
It has six legs.
You can find them in the highest part of the intertidal zone, but they're more terrestrial than marine.

ReplyDeleteI like your thinking, as these animals are in the same habitat as the rock louse that you're thinking of.
I'll give another hint (this time a bigger one), but it's still a little tricky because this group of animals might not be that well known to many people. It's a type of insect!
And why not, here are a couple more hints -- it has a fairly long "tail" and it's a good jumper!
