A quick trip around the yard this evening produced a nice diversity of arthropods:
I'm not sure what this is — possibly a young orthopteran? (this group includes crickets, katydids, and grasshoppers)
California Oak Worm caterpillar (Phryganidia californica)
A copper-colored weevil — not sure which species (weevils are beetles)
Unknown beetle larva — interestingly, it was apt to move backwards very quickly with an inchworm-like motion
A pretty orange and yellow orbweaver — possibly a Six-spotted Orbweaver (Araniella displicata)
An unknown orbweaver — for now I'll call it the "fudge swirl orbweaver"
All of these photos were taken in Sebastopol on 16 May 2012. I'd love assistance with the identifications. Let me know if you can help!

I love that orthopteran larva trying to get its butt to look like a head just be elevating it.
