Among the wildflowers
Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus), photographed on Bodega Head on 16 April 2016
Getting close to nesting season out there. I had a killdeer give me the injured wing treatment at Salt Point in May a few years ago, and it didn't take long to find the beautifully camouflaged nest (while treading very carefully of course).

"vociferous" in their name is SO appropriate!
(Oops, I mean "vociferus" - bad typo!)

Lots here in FL-noisy little guys
I take that back-thinking of a kingfisher
Hi, Geoff! Killdeer are quite vocal, too -- so I wouldn't be surprised if you hear them in Florida, along with the kingfishers.
