September stunner

This morning Eric called me over to point out a nice-looking spider web lit up by the sun in the backyard.  It was a special one.  Here are a few of the highlights:

What amazing colors! We started naming some of the spiders in our backyard because they have been sticking around, and rebuilding whenever we accidentally destroy their web, but this makes me think that naming them based on their body color (like Kermit, the green one, king of the rosemary hedge) doesn't do them justice.

Hi, Doerte! Yes, we started wondering if the spiders can see these colors as the light hits their webs? It's a pretty spectacular phenomenon...and it's so fun that it's right in the backyard!
