Wishing on a star

Maybe I keep thinking about stars recently because I've been hoping and hoping that the night skies would be clear enough to see Comet NEOWISE.  Have you seen it?

No luck here yet, but below is a juvenile Ochre Sea Star (Pisaster ochraceus) photographed a couple of days ago.

Been driving around the last 3 nights looking for it. Saw it the first night, but through some haze. Second night had a beautiful view for about 30 seconds before clouds blew in. Last night the clouds showed up while looking for a place to park so we saw nothing. Would drive much farther if I could guarantee clear skies.

Yep, we saw NEOWISE on Friday, the 17th. Our neighbor had shown us a movie on a screen he has set up on his lawn. When the film finished, there was the comet. A much better show than "Field of Dreams."
The next night there was smoke from Coalinga, I guess, and it wasn't easy to see.
After that, fog every night since. At least we had one chance!
