Forest of frost

The last couple of mornings have been a little chilly.  This is a small section of a tiny frost forest in Cotati, 21 November 2020.

Hello Jackie, I am curious, are these ice crystals surrounding a substrate of some herbal
material, like a moss, or are they frost structures just on their own?
The world of the tiny is generally so overlooked, but so amazing.

Hi! These crystals were on a boat cover! I'm not sure what the material is that the boat cover is made of? So they weren't on a natural substrate. I think it was the best spot for frost that morning because it's one of the shadiest parts of the yard. (And perhaps some moisture beads up on the boat cover?)

Thanks for asking!
