Must have been some tenacious pecking to get a seed out of that tough-looking cone.
Indeed, the sound of intense pecking was what drew my attention to this determined forager! I heard the loud pecking and wondered what was going on, and then I eventually located the nuthatch pounding on the pine cone!:) Jackie
