There were incredibly dark clouds to the west as we drove home from work tonight, but the sun broke through here and there, highlighting the hills. The lighting was dramatic, so here are two more views. All photographs were taken from Roblar Road on 10 May 2022.

So beautiful! We are lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. Your blog is a delight!
Thanks, Dan! I'm glad I had a camera with me.

I'm delighted to see someone else who appreciates the sky as much as the sea. I was also nearly running off the road yesterday (Stony Point) when this drama was approaching. Lightning and thunder made me smile, too. Great rendering of this water in the air!
I love to see natural lighting where the background is so dark and the foreground is lit up. Yesterday, I was driving to a meeting in Rohnert Park watching a thunderhead develop over Santa Rosa. It did not rain on us. But this morning, I had a meeting near Calistoga and you could see remnant hail on Mt. St. Helena and also at the jobsite I was at. The hail was the size of chic peas.
These are stunning photos. The contrast takes my breath away!
And I, too, am glad that you had a camera with you.
Jackie, these pictures capture yesterday's intense weather perfectly. I was torn between the immense beauty of it all, and thinking about how my new tomato plants and basil seeds would feel about the hail storm that came down in the middle of it. I guess we will make it work...
Thanks, everyone! Fun to hear about your experiences with yesterday's weather and your thoughts about the views and the light.
I had an unusual moment when taking these pictures, especially the middle one. I had a feeling that light and setting was reminding me of a painting or an artist, but I couldn't quite place it. And then I realized that it was more of a universal feeling, that this type of light, or appreciation for it, makes its way into many of the artists' paintings that I'm drawn to.
Thanks again for sharing your observations and responses!
:) Jackie
