Not quite done yet

Nice to see some color in the salt marsh Sea Lavender (Limonium californicum), 3 August 2020.

I've always loved seeing this flower in bloom, especially along the railroad tracks growing up in SoCal!

A long time ago, someone told me these were not native to California, which I have to admit made me less happy to see them around.

I am so happy to learn they were wrong! Thank you for sharing! :-)

Hello! Thanks for the comment. This is a little tricky. There are quite a few species of sea lavender (Limonium spp.) in California that are not native. So far, I don't think the non-native species have been recorded in Bodega Harbor. However, if you are seeing sea lavender elsewhere in the state, you'd need to identify which species it is (it could be the native species or one of the non-native species). There are some examples of the other sea lavender species here:

I apoplogize! Uh, I meant to correct the mistake here... (above) -
it’s Salicornia and there are two very rare species out of the three listed on Calflora
I’m assuming this is pacifica and it could be blooming now through November!
